Application of the International Residential Code - SERIES (2006 IRC) - IRC-S, Jan. - May
Days: Weekends (F/S ) 8 am - 3 pm
Course length: Four (4) classes for a total of 90 Hrs (9.0 CEU) / (2 - 4 weekends a month, F/S ) Location: North Metro Tech
Cost: Member: $1895 + Books, Non-Member: $1995 + Books
Student level: Intermediate: The student should possess a basic knowledge of residential building terminology and components.
Scheduled Dates: See dates for specific classes.
Provides inspectors, architects, engineers, interior designers and individuals pursuing certification in residential construction or residential inspection with an overview of the critical concepts of the International Residential CodeĀ®. Explains building requirements and construction code applications necessary for compliance with the 2006 IRC. The objective is to provide building professionals attending this course with practical knowledge of the 2006 IRC needed for field inspections, building and design.
Student will need a copy of the related code book: 2006 International Residential Code and supplemental workbooks.
Building (IRC-B) (Weekends of 1/25 & 2/8, Fri/Sat) This class covers chapters 1-10 of the IRC including administration, building planning, foundations, floors, wall construction, roof-ceiling construction, chimneys and fireplaces.
Mechanical (IRC-M) (Saturdays only: 2/23, 3/1, 3/8 & 3/15) This class covers chapters 12-24 of the IRC concentrating on the mechanical sections of the 2006 International Residential Code, including HVAC installations, Combustion Air, Venting and Gas piping. Student will need a copy of the related workbook.
Electrical (IRC-E) (Weekends of 4/4 & 4/18, Fri/Sat) This class provides electrical inspectors, home inspectors and individuals pursuing certification in residential construction or residential inspection with an overview of the critical electrical concepts of the NEC (NFPA 70A) as it appears in the International Residential Code. Covers Chapter 33-42 of the IRC including minimum residential electrical code requirements. Explains electrical requirements and code application necessary for compliance with the 2006 IRC.
Plumbing (IRC-P) (Saturdays only: 5/3, 5/10 & 5/17) This class covers chapters 25-32 of the IRC concentrating on the plumbing provisions of the 2006 International Residential Code, including water supply piping, Sanitary drainage and Fixture requirements. Student will need a copy of the related workbook.

The objective is to provide building professionals with practical knowledge of the 2006 IRC needed for field inspections, building and electrical design.
Student will need a copy of the related code book: 2006 International Residential Code and Study Companion.
